Nelco Amica Sewing Machine
I am very excited about my luck thrift purchases, particularly my Nelco Amica sewing machine. Heck, I’m ecstatic about my sewing machine. It’s the first one I ever bought for myself and I wasn’t counting on it working when I chanced buying it. But not only does it work, but it’s a champ. Sews through anything without a complaint. Made in Italy, I’m guessing 1960s based on the instruction booklet art.

Update 1/2006: I no longer have this machine.
Update 3/2013: You can now get the manual here: http://www.little-package.com/shop/nelco-amica-user-manual

Hi! I’ve got the same machine, but it’s a french model (I live in France), named Manufrance Omnia Déco. I found it on Ebay, it was made in 1975 but the previous owner never used it, and I can say it’s brand new. The only thing I didn’t like was the foot pedal, not precise enough to control speed, and replaced it with a Singer pedal, which works better. The tension control is very sensitive, but you can easilly find the good settings, and it sews very very well. Seem allowances are not written on the niddle plate, so I had to make a stick to put on it. The machine is very heavy and not easy to carry, but I’m not dissapointed by its performances.

I bought a Nelso Sierra model 234 sewing machine on ebay. Works fine, but somehow the top was damaged
I’m looking for a new top because the bobbin winder & bobbin pusher was damaged. Anybody have one to

Wow! Today I found bobbins and bobbin cases at a “mom-n-pop” fabric store. The owner didn’t want to sell them to me because he said they’re for “commercial” machines and I had told him I have a home machine – but they fit and work great! So, someone is making bobbins and bobbin cases which fit the Nelco Amica. This really cheered me up, because I was wondering what I would do when my ancient bobbin case finally broke.
looking for thread tensioner on my recently acquired nelco model f-400 it runs great but the tensioner spring is broke if anyone knows where I might find one please let me know I found a generic one that probably would work ,but they only sell to dealers
thank you
